The Great Commission
The Great Commission is to go into all the world and preach the gospel - to spread the good news,
that Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary, took the punishment that we deserved and after
three days rose again! He came to ‘seek and to save the lost’ and let us not forget that ‘there is no
other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.’ We must all repent of our sins, forsake
them and follow Jesus Christ, giving 100% of ourselves unreservedly to Him.
Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in
Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). ‘For the wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord’ (Romans 6:23).
The Great Commission is the Church's Responsibility - our responsibility, my responsibility, your
responsibility! Let us never forget that on the Judgment Day when we stand before Christ, we will
not only be judged by what we said and did, but by what we did not say and did not do!
Jesus said, “The harvest is truly plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of
the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38). Are you the answer to this prayer?
‘As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country’ (Proverbs 25:25).
Great Commission Scriptures
Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is
baptised will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:15-16).
Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…teaching them to observe all things that I
have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).
Jesus said, “...And thus it was necessary for the Christ so suffer and rise from the dead
the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations,
beginning in Jerusalem” (Luke 24:46-47).
‘For “whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” How then shall they call on Him in whom
they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear
without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the
feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” ’ (Romans 10:13-15).
Jesus said, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations,
and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14).
Jesus said, “Behold I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry [wait] in the city of
Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).
Jesus said, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses
to Me in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
Jesus sent out the twelve disciples on their first short-term mission (STM) and said, “And as you go, preach saying,
'The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.' Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons, freely you
have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:7-8).
