Vitamins C + D

Folic Acid (folate) is especially helpful in preventing birth defects. It is also involved in red blood cell formation, carbohydrate metabolism, digestive system, healthy tissue and is needed for normal growth. It is found in turnips, spinach, asparagus, beet, greens, liver and wheat bran.

Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant, which helps maintain a healthy immune system and protect against heart disease. It aids the absorption of iron and is needed for building connective tissue, bones, teeth and helps the healing of fractures and wounds - it helps maintain normal cholesterol levels. It is found in citrus fruits, rose hips, green peppers, broccoli, spinach, tomatoes and berries.

Vitamin D is needed for the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the body. It assists assimilation of Vitamin A and is believed to be involved in the immune system (antibody production). It is found in cod liver oil, halibut liver oil, milk (Vitamin D enriched), salmon and tuna.
